Partner: ECHO

A heritage wool store in Brisbane, converted into a modern apartment, called for a custom steel staircase that respected the building's industrial character while feeling at home in a contemporary fit-out. RTJ partnered with ECHO to design, fabricate, and install a perforated steel stair with a built-in under-stair desk, working within the constraints of the original heritage structure.

The finished result speaks for itself: light filtering through the perforated treads, exposed steel beams overhead, and a stair that doubles as a piece of architecture in its own right.
